"Made in the Shade" by Karyn Robinson
This guy had it made. It was a summer weekday morning in Carlsbad, California and he had an enormous stretch of the beach all to himself. I envied this early bird and his little patch of shade. I imagined the tranquillity he was enjoying, only the sound of the surf and a chill breeze. Dude definitely had it "made in the shade".
Robinson grew up in the midwest and has lived in Arizona with her husband Jeff for more than 25 years. "When we moved to the southwest I was immediately taken with the desert's exotic beauty. Where some see only rocks and dirt, I see majesty. I love the sculptural shapes of the cacti and the way light and shadow plays on their forms." In addition to her contemporary take on southwestern art, Robinson enjoys painting abstracts, unusual objects (check out her robot painting, A Boy and His Dog) and capturing people at play.
