I love night time at the beach when most of the tourists are sleeping off their sangrias and attending to their sunburns.
Your senses are heightened as you walk in and out of pools of light. Waves crash more loudly, the cooler air seems a bit more salty.
I painted this from a photograph I took on my last visit, and painting the pier has me thinking about a return trip, hopefully very soon.
Robinson grew up in the midwest and has lived in Arizona with her husband Jeff for more than 25 years. "When we moved to the southwest I was immediately taken with the desert's exotic beauty. Where some see only rocks and dirt, I see majesty. I love the sculptural shapes of the cacti and the way light and shadow plays on their forms." In addition to her contemporary take on southwestern art, Robinson enjoys painting abstracts, unusual objects (check out her robot painting, A Boy and His Dog) and capturing people at play.
