Description
My husband and I live close enough to California to travel to San Diego for long weekend getaways. Lately, we've started taking the train to explore the coastal towns like Carlsbad and Encinitas. Avoiding the highway traffic is a big plus too.
I've never lived where transportation by rail is an everyday event and I am so impressed with the California transportation system.
The Coaster is so affordable and convenient. For a good part of the stretch of rail that goes from Oceanside to downtown San Diego you get to watch the beautiful beaches and coastline roll by.
This is the scene I saw when exiting the historic Santa Fe Depot. Immediately the two, bright yellow lines jumped out at me. And then there's all that blue. It was a gorgeous, San Diego summer afternoon and I knew within seconds the scene before me would soon become a painting.
I love San Diego, I love trains, and I love historic buildings and history. Riding the Coaster, Amtrak, and even the little, red Trolley brings me so much joy. I hope that comes through in this painting.
If you're every in SD, give yourself a treat and take a ride on the train!
