Isn't she beautiful in her polka dot bikini? Okay, maybe this sign is an acquired taste but I just love vintage advertising and this is an excellent example. Who wouldn't want to join this lovely lady for a dip in the refreshing pool of this Tucson hotel?

I love this old sign and everything about it...the type face, the diving board and handle bars, and the neon. There is another photograph on my site which complements this one, it features the motel name and more great neon. The two photos work well together.

Hotels and motels like this one popped up all over the southwest in the 50's as the interstate roadway system expanded. Families could now venture west for vacation. That was also the era of the neon sign boasting, 'It's Cold Inside!" or "Color TV". Unfortunately, few of the classics still exist. We're lucky to have this sign so well maintained and hanging proudly in Tucson.
