Artist's Description
Karyn Robinson, Gilbert, Arizona
This beautiful courtyard captures everything I love about living in the southwest. The colors are so beautiful. Out here you will see a lot of homes with blue windows, shutters and / or doors. I believe it was once thought, (and perhaps some still believe) that evil spirits are deterred by the beautiful, turquoise color.
The bright desert sunlight pours into the courtyard hitting the vigas and casting interesting shadows on the walls.. Two chile ristras, also for good luck, provide a beautiful pop of red next to the blue door and windows.
A cute pup and has found his happy spot next to a charming, blue Mexican crafted chair with a thin, well-worn coat of light blue paint.
Although I call this a "Santa Fe Courtyard" this scene could be found anywhere from Tucson, Arizona to Santa Barbara, California.

In addition to her contemporary take on southwestern art, Robinson enjoys painting abstracts, unusual objects (check out her robot painting, A Boy and His Dog) and capturing people at play. "Sometimes I feel that there is not enough time in the day to paint everything I want to paint. I'm so captivated by this wonderful, beautiful world. If I can just continue to paint and share my work with...
