I love old, mechanical things, with dials and switches. That's why I love old cameras. This is a painting of a Rolleiflex View camera, introduced, I believe, in 1949 featuring "the original twin-lens reflex". An advertisement from the day boasted, "In all fine photographic collections, most places of distinction are held by Rolleiflex pictures." I don't know if that's true...I just dig old cameras.
According to an article on Wikipedia,The Rolleiflex TLR film cameras were notable for their exceptional build quality, compact size, modest weight, superior optics, durable, simple, reliable mechanics and bright viewfinders. They were popular and widely imitated. Robinson grew up in the midwest and has lived in Arizona with her husband Jeff for more than 25 years. "When we moved to the southwest I was immediately taken with the desert's exotic beauty. Where some see only rocks and dirt, I see majesty. I love the sculptural shapes of the cacti and the way light and shadow plays on their forms." With the MA, paid for my PhD, but without the Rolli, and the US Army where began school again with the United States Armed Forces Institute. would probably still be a High School dropout, who quit school at 15, then went in the army at 16....
