I love the color here - bold and funky - and, as you say in your description - the memories that rush in whenever I see a typewriter. My choice for DFM&N for October 7.

Artist's Description

How many times have you read a biography of a famous writer and the story mentions that the writer prefers to do his or her work on an old, manual typewriter? For some reason many people prefer these vintage gems. Show an old typewriter to a kid and they are fascinated. It reminds them of something, but they're not sure what. I have an old one and I kept a piece of paper in the carriage and my son's friends would all experiment with the strange device.

Those of us a bit older remember the manual return, the ribbon that would occasionally need to be re-positioned and the ink that would get on your fingers, and that wonderful bell.

Robinson grew up in the midwest and has lived in Arizona with her husband Jeff for more than 25 years. "When we moved to the southwest I was immediately taken with the desert's exotic beauty. Where some see only rocks and dirt, I see majesty. I love the sculptural shapes of the cacti and the way light and shadow plays on their forms."
