By day I hardly notice them, but walking under these giants in the evening, lit up from the ground far below, I was so taken by their graceful form.
Like enormous green umbrellas they create a sense of shelter. The sound of the breeze as it gently ruffles the fronds is hypnotic and the perfect accompaniment to the rolling surf not too far away.
Palms are iconic, the symbol of beach holidays and island vacations. My gentle green giants.
Robinson grew up in the midwest and has lived in Arizona with her husband Jeff for more than 25 years. "When we moved to the southwest I was immediately taken with the desert's exotic beauty. Where some see only rocks and dirt, I see majesty. I love the sculptural shapes of the cacti and the way light and shadow plays on their forms." In addition to her contemporary take on southwestern art, Robinson enjoys painting abstracts, unusual objects (check out her robot painting, A Boy and His Dog) and capturing people at play.
