When I first saw this beautiful bit of art I thought it was a hood ornament. In fact it is a classic, Greyhound radiator cap.
Oh how I wish I lived during this time of beautiful design! A time when ornament was ordinary. Think about old building and the carvings, the gargoyles, the bricabrack. Think of all the artists who hand a hand in making nearly everything.
This radiator cap is an excellent example of what I'm talking about. The sleek lines of the greyhound suggest speed and power. The perfect mascot for this dynamo of the day.
A great piece of masculine art. I can see this in a cigar bar. Perfect!
About Karyn Robinson
Robinson grew up in the midwest and has lived in Arizona with her husband Jeff for more than 25 years. "When we moved to the southwest I was immediately taken with the desert's exotic beauty. Where some see only rocks and dirt, I see majesty. I love the sculptural shapes of the cacti and the way light and shadow plays on their forms." In addition to her contemporary take on southwestern art, Robinson enjoys painting abstracts, unusual objects (check out her robot painting, A Boy and His Dog) and capturing people at play.
