I love the way the light falls on this painting.

The window is in both sunlight and shade. The sunlight reveals the true color of the stucco wall; a soft, buttery yellow, a color that appears a bit colder in shade. Likewise the white framing takes on a blue cast. The red and green of the flowers in the window box 'pop' on those falling into the warmth of the sun. A shadow from the trailing greenery provides more interest on the surfaces below.

The iron bars suggest that perhaps this well maintained home is in a neighborhood that has fallen on harder times, yet the owner finds a way to add a touch of color and life to her home.

But what's behind that window? I'll leave that up to you to decide.

Robinson grew up in the midwest and has lived in Arizona with her husband Jeff for more than 25 years. "When we moved to the southwest I was immediately taken with the desert's exotic beauty. Where some see only rocks and dirt, I see majesty. I love the sculptural shapes of the cacti and the way light and shadow plays on their forms." In addition to her contemporary take on southwestern art, Robinson enjoys painting abstracts, unusual objects (check out her robot painting, A Boy and His Dog) and capturing people at play.
