I love architecture and what makes a building interesting to me are the details. This photograph of iron handrails on the steps of a home in Tucson's Barrio Presidio takes on an abstract appearance. The delicate scroll work breaks up the hard lines. It's my favorite photograph from a delightful Saturday afternoon spent meandering through Tucson's historic old neighborhoods.
Robinson grew up in the midwest and has lived in Arizona with her husband Jeff for more than 25 years. "When we moved to the southwest I was immediately taken with the desert's exotic beauty. Where some see only rocks and dirt, I see majesty. I love the sculptural shapes of the cacti and the way light and shadow plays on their forms." In addition to her contemporary take on southwestern art, Robinson enjoys painting abstracts, unusual objects (check out her robot painting, A Boy and His Dog) and capturing people at play.
